Dumplings are little pockets of yummy goodness.
I hadn’t had them for a long while before I went out with Jimmy for lunch, but remembered then just how much I loved them.
I am trying a frozen variety with some steamed vegetables for dinner tonight. This makes a great one-person dinner. I needed one last thing — dipping sauce.
When we ate our dumplings at Din Tai Fung we mixed soy sauce with black vinegar for dipping and it was the perfect bath for these tiny, tasty morsels. So I was on a mission to find me some black vinegar.
Jimmy suggested I go to any Asian grocer. There are a few of them around my neighbourhood, but I have NEVER been in any of them.
So, ‘doing it different’ today meant I’d change that.
So glad I did. I popped into the shop at Revesby, which I’ve walked by over a hundred times, and found my black vinegar and a bonus – a premixed dumpling sauce.
I might just have to do a taste test to see which I prefer.
If you need me, I’ll be getting saucy with my new purchases!
